YAG Laser Eye Treatment in Miranda

The YAG laser at Eye Surgeons Miranda is an ophthalmic (eye) laser used for two specific in-rooms procedures: YAG capsulotomy for clouding of the posterior capsule after cataract surgery, and peripheral iridotomy for narrow anterior chamber angles.

Both are performed by A/Prof Hunt in the consulting rooms — no hospital admission, no general anaesthetic.

A YAG laser procedure is performed at the laser in the consulting rooms — seated, with the chin supported.

Posterior Capsular Opacification

Months or years after cataract surgery, the membrane that holds the lens implant in place can gradually become cloudy, blurring vision again. YAG capsulotomy creates a clear opening in the cloudy capsule and restores the visual pathway.

Peripheral Iridotomy for Narrow Angles

Some eyes have narrower drainage angles than is typical, putting them at higher risk of angle-closure glaucoma. Peripheral iridotomy uses the YAG laser to create a small opening in the periphery of the iris, allowing fluid to bypass the narrow angle.
