Your Visit
Eye Surgeons Miranda is the practice of Dr Adrian Hunt — Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, with subspecialty training in medical retina and a PhD from the University of Sydney. He has cared for Shire residents at the same Miranda location since 2010, and his consulting days mean ongoing care typically stays with the same doctor through every visit. The practice handles cataract surgery, medical retina, and general ophthalmology for patients across the Sutherland Shire and beyond.
Below is what to bring, what to expect on the day, and how to find the practice.
Preparing for Your Appointment
What to bring
- Your referral letter from your GP or optometrist
- Medicare card and any concession, DVA, or private health insurance cards
- A list of current medications — including eye drops, supplements, and blood thinners
- Your current glasses or contact lenses
- Sunglasses — your pupils may be dilated during the consultation
- Any previous eye test results, scans, or imaging you have been given
- A list of any known allergies
What to expect
- Please arrive 10–15 minutes early to complete registration
- Allow approximately one to two hours for your visit — initial testing is performed before you see Dr Hunt
- Dilating drops are commonly used during ophthalmic assessment. These blur your near vision and cause light sensitivity for several hours afterwards
- You should not drive after dilation — please arrange someone to drive you, or plan to use public transport. Miranda Station is a short walk from the practice
